Bank deposits - a compendium of knowledge
What is a deposit in a bank?
A deposit is a deposit made to a bank. It is the so-called freezing of funds for a specified period of time and entrusting them to a banking institution. The latter can freely dispose of them, and in return offers favourable interest rates. It is the interest on the invested capital that is the earnings of the person who made the deposit.
Although the profits from the deposits are mutual, the banks impose certain conditions. For example, you cannot withdraw your invested funds before a certain date. If he does, he'll lose the interest he's earned. A deposit in a bank is therefore a great idea to multiply savings for those who have surplus funds and are sure that they do not need this amount of money in a given period of time to maintain their financial health.
Types of bank deposits
Bank deposits differ in terms of different criteria. They may be distributed on the basis of their duration, method of assumption or effectiveness in generating profits. Such banking products can also be divided on the basis of the minimum amount of money that needs to be invested in them.
Poles most often make term deposits - the most popular are those with short term deposits. We are interested in deposits for 3, 6 or 9 months. Only a small group of investors decide to "freeze" their savings on a long-term deposit, for example, lasting 72 months, although the profits are then much higher.
Bank deposit rankings
Rankings are useful for undecided people. They are published at least once a month by practically all banks available in Poland. The rankings contain a list of the best and current deposits. They allow you to compare the interest rate, i.e. the expected annual profit, the term of the deposit and all other terms and conditions offered by a given bank institution.
How to make a deposit?
You can make a deposit at a branch of a selected bank. There you will fill in the appropriate application form and complete all the formalities. In the facility you also have a chance to get answers to your questions. The advisor will also offer you an offer in accordance with your capabilities and expectations. Direct contact with the bank's representative also gives the possibility to negotiate the terms and conditions of the deposit, including the interest rate.
More and more banks are making it possible to open deposits online. That way, you don't even have to leave the house. Often it is enough to have an account in a selected bank - on the online platform there is an option to open a deposit in a few simple steps. You will decide for yourself how long the contract will last and how much money you will spend on this type of investment. If you do not have an account with a selected institution, the institution will show you the number of the account you will be crediting with the money.
